Appointments
Consultations are by appointment only, and are usually taken every 15 minutes. If you are having any form of medical examination, have forms to be filled in, or feel a longer consultation is required, please advise our reception staff at the time of booking.
Special times may be set aside for skin cancer checks, antenatal/postnatal checks, diabetic check-ups, repeat prescriptions, and urgent appointments.
Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination appointments (when clinics are scheduled) can be made through Reception or online through HotDoc.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let our Reception Staff know immediately so that we may offer the appointment to someone else.
Our Practice uses the HotDoc SMS system for appointment reminders and recalls. Please let our Reception Staff know if you wish to opt out of this service.

Urgent Appointments
As our routine appointments can be booked up to several days or weeks ahead, we leave times available for short, urgent consultations each day. If you feel this is required, please phone and discuss this with our reception staff when the Surgery first opens at 9:00am each morning. For acute emergencies, our reception staff will notify the Doctors directly, or if this is not possible, please remember the Ambulance Service on 000.
PRESCRIPTIONS
Repeat prescriptions for medications already prescribed by Doctors in the Practice can be obtained at the Bulk-Billed Script Clinics that occur each day at both Bega and Tathra Surgeries around 2pm. These can be done face-to-face but are recommended via phone consult if patient has been seen face-to-face in previous 12 months. Patients can also request repeat prescriptions by phoning Reception Staff after 10am. If we feel that you are due for a follow-up visit, our reception staff will advise you. A fee is charged for this service, with additional fees if faxing or posting of the script is required on the same day. All other prescriptions require a Doctors consultation.
teenage / adolescent patients
Teenage / adolescent patients of our Practice are encouraged to attend our surgery at any time for a CONFIDENTIAL appointment with our Doctors. Whether you have a medical concern or just need some advice, come and see us. Parental permission is not required.
referrals
Referral letters to Specialists are current for 12 months only. It is ILLEGAL to back date referrals. If you have an appointment with your specialist coming up, check you still have a current referral. An appointment with a GP is required for all referrals. If you attend your specialist appointment without a current referral, you may not be able to recover the cost of that appointment.
HOME VISITS
There are obviously occasions where patients of the Practice are unable to attend the Surgery. So although no specific times are set aside, home visit appointments are available upon request and at the discretion of the treating Doctor. These appointments are generally made throughout the day or early evening, after the Surgery closes. Fees will be charged for home visits.
